About This Blog

By day I'm a neuroscience graduate student at MIT, conducting research on the neural correlates of reading. On evenings and weekends, I write fantasy stories for young adults. I like to take the analytical approach I use for my experiments and apply it towards the process of writing and publishing. This is what I will attempt in this blog: study pieces of writing, break it down into component pieces, and try to see what makes it work.
I also maintain a more academic blog summarizing current research on reading and word recognition.

Paul -- I haven't read any Lacan
Fascinating idea for a blog. Which doesn't happen often.
Hi Livia! I'm thrilled to have stumbled into your blog--I've read some Consciousness texts that were fascinating but nonetheless left a void. I try to read into the subject a little, trying to apply it to writing and songwriting... but with my limited time I do a hack job at best.
Great to see a bona fide student of the topic doing this! This is stuff that I will definitely use. I'll be reading!
I am a writer; my first novel just went live this past March. I write best in the wee hours of the morn, the creativity, for me, is amazing at that time. I'm just finding my way around your blog, but I'm already hooked!
I found your blog (and your profile) fascinating so I joined. I look forward to reading more of your posts. If you get a chance, check out my blog at: http://m-j-macie.blogspot.com/ and let me know what you think. Have a great day! M.J.
