Movies that go on in the heads of our readers as they follow our words.

We get to choose what angle from which they look at our characters. We get to choose who does the voice-over for our adventure. We get to choose the lighting and the strobe-like effect of the narrator's impressions.

Move over Hitchcock, right? Whether or not its a loaded first impression or not, it's still excellent writing. It seems more and more these days that books have to be fast-paced and full of action, so quick-loaded characterization and setting is necessary. I still like slower-paced books with deeper characterization, but it's need to see a writer pull off a believeable character in minimal space.

Going to check out some of your other postsMargo Berendsenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03476308235642890474noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8503889855562099029.post-87811352441105770312010-05-01T01:31:53.576-04:002010-05-01T01:31:53.576-04:00Rachel,

I read it with my 13-year-old stepdaughter and we still talk about the characters, and the parts that made me cry (she laughs at me) and how I analyzed every scene like a writer. In an industry filled with cookie-cutter characters, I think Suzanne Collins does a great job of rising above the norm.Dawn Iushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01546425873531022196noreply@blogger.com
